Encounters of Coastal Life

As your boat glides past the calm waters between Singapore and Johor, you’ll witness the lesser-seen side of the nation’s seafood story. Here, local fishermen head out before dawn, braving the currents and weather to haul in crab traps and cast their nets for sea prawns. Watching them at work offers a quiet, humbling look at the skill, timing, and intuition passed down through generations. Their boats may be modest, but their knowledge of these waters runs deep — a living link to Singapore’s maritime roots.

Further along, you’ll see floating fish farms (kelong) up close and discover how traditional craftsmanship meets modern innovation. Learn how farmers raise fish in open waters, maintaining delicate ecosystems while adapting to new technologies, rising costs, and environmental challenges. See how floating walkways, net cages, and feeding systems come together to form a self-sustaining world on the sea — one that reflects both heritage and forward-thinking ingenuity.

Then comes the heart of the experience — a sea-to-table tasting of freshly harvested mussels and seasonal seafood, prepared simply to let the purity of the Straits shine through. Every tasting tells a story of resilience and respect for the sea, for sustainability, and for the generations who have depended on its gifts.

Throughout the journey, your guide Robin Loh, a seasoned maritime storyteller with over 30 years of boating experience in the Johor Straits, shares captivating tales of the coastal communities he knows intimately — from the days of wooden kelongs and island fishermen to the present era of high-tech aquaculture. Through his stories, you’ll discover how the sea continues to shape identities, livelihoods, and the collective memory of Singapore.

This tour embodies the essence of “The Coastal Life” — a celebration of the enduring relationship between humans and the sea. It is about learning, tasting, and connecting — understanding that while our coastlines evolve, the spirit of the Straits lives on in those who still call it home.

Cancellation Policy

• You will receive a full refund if we receive your cancellation notice at least 48 hours before your tour starts.
• If we cancel the tour, you will receive either a full refund or an alternative date/time
• There is strictly no refund:
  – For cancellations made within 48 hours of the start of the tour
  – For tours that were previously rescheduled by you
  – If you arrive late and the group has departed
  – If you fail to turn up, regardless of the reason

Minimum 4-Pax Departure Policy

Due to the min. requirement of 4 pax to depart. Let’s Go Tour reserves the right to contact the customer to do a reschedule to another slot/day, should the number of guests for the tour selected is less than 4 pax.

Rain Policy

The Tour will continue to be conducted when there is light rain. In the event of a thunderstorm, a reschedule date will be provided.
