In collaboration with Singapore HeritageFest 2026, let’s discover our maritime heritage and Singapore’s deep connection to the vibrant communities that made us a global maritime hub.
Singapore HeritageFest 2026 x Let's Go Tour Singapore
1. Stories of the Kelongs: A Maritime Heritage Boat Tour

Venture into Singapore’s northern waters on a rare voyage through time, tracing the stories of kelongs — traditional offshore fishing platforms that once dotted the Johor Straits. These wooden structures, standing quietly above the tides, reveal how the sea shaped livelihoods, faith and community life along our coast.
Participants will journey by boat past both active and abandoned kelongs, gaining an intimate glimpse into Singapore’s maritime landscape. Along the way, encounter an old seaside shrine once used by fishermen seeking blessings before setting sail, and hear stories of coastal families whose lives were bound to the rhythms of the sea.
Through these encounters, discover how maritime trade, migration and multicultural communities shaped our island’s foundations, including the enduring legacy of Sembawang Shipyard, formerly the British Royal Navy Dockyard.
